Can we talk about that tourist trap in Savannah I fell for last weekend?

I was down on River Street in Savannah last Saturday and got roped into this horse drawn carriage tour. Guy charged me $45 for a 30 minute ride that barely left the main strip. On one hand, the guide knew his history and pointed out some cool old buildings from the Civil War era. But on the other hand, I could have walked the same route in 15 minutes for free and gotten better photos. The horses looked tired too, which kind of killed the vibe for me. Is paying for convenience worth it, or are these things just a scam for tourists? Anyone else feel ripped off by a similar experience in Savannah?

Gotta agree with @zarar67 on this - those carriage horses looked rough. Not worth it.

Honestly, didn't you get something out of the guided stories though? Those Civil War details and building facts are exactly what you miss when you just walk by on your own. Tbh the horse thing is a fair concern, but the history part is what makes it worth the cash for some people.

Honestly that guided history part is what sold the experience for me. You walk right past those old buildings and never know they were used as field hospitals or where generals gave speeches. The carriage guy pointed out a spot where Lincoln apparently stopped once, which my walking tour app never mentioned. So yeah, the history nerd in me loved that part even if the horse situation made me cringe a little. The extra details are the whole reason I paid up.
