That dig in New Mexico where I chose the trowel over the shovel

We were short on time at the Pueblo site and I had to pick between using a trowel for fine work or a shovel to move more dirt. I went with the trowel and found a tiny shell bead that dated back to 1100 AD. Anybody else have a small tool choice pay off big?

Stick with the trowel every time when you're working in tight spots or delicate layers. Speed means nothing if you're blowing past the good stuff, lol.

Blowing past the good stuff" reminds me of when my buddy tried to dig around a buried sprinkler line with a shovel. He was all speed and confidence, then we heard that awful crunch sound. Had to spend the whole afternoon patching up the pipe and repacking the soil. A trowel would've saved us like three hours of sweating and cursing.
