Showerthought: My uncle's old journal taught me about personal archaeology
I was helping my uncle move and found his journal from college. It was filled with notes about his travels and daily life. Reading it, I felt like I was uncovering a piece of his past. It reminded me of how archaeologists learn from old writings and objects. For example, his descriptions of family gatherings showed how traditions changed. This made me see that family items are like small digs into history. Now I want to ask more questions about our family stories.

My buddy Leo found his dad's 1985 fishing ledger in their garage. He said reading those notes about fuel costs and catch counts taught him more than any old photo album.

Photos show smiles though, ledgers are just cold numbers.

But what if the numbers tell the real story?
