Rant: Unearthed some odd bits while fixing my fence line
Was digging post holes out back yesterday. My shovel clinked on something hard. Pulled out a few pieces of baked clay with patterns. Not sure if it's just junk or something old. What's the protocol for stuff like this in your area?

Have you called the historical society yet?

Yeah, I called them last week. I used to think the historical society was just for boring people who liked old stuff. But then I asked about the weird chimney on my street and they pulled up the original builder's plans. Seeing those blueprints from 1910 made it all click. Now I'm kinda hooked on their archives. Turns out they're not just sitting around telling dry stories.

What worked for me was just going down there in person. I had a question about my old apartment building, and the volunteer found photos and tax records from the 1920s I never would have found online. They get so excited to share what they know, it makes you see the whole neighborhood differently. I spent a whole afternoon just listening to stories about who used to live on my block. It turned a plain old building into a place with a real past.
