My laser scan picked up a ghost grid that almost ruined our dig
Last month I was running a LiDAR sweep over a mound near Abilene, Kansas and the point cloud showed a perfect rectangle under the dirt. I got so excited I marked it on the map and we started digging, only to find it was an old fence line from 1942 someone forgot to log. The software picked up the buried rusted posts and I wasted 3 days and about $400 in labor on the wrong spot. Now I double-check every anomaly against the county survey records before we break ground. Has anyone else had a false positive from old farm infrastructure mess with their grid?
