Left a 2000-year-old Roman coin on the dash of my truck and it warped in the sun

I was digging a drainage ditch near Chester last summer and spotted a little bronze coin in the spoil pile, so I set it on the dash to show my buddy later - came back two hours later and the thing looked like a potato chip. Anyone else accidentally ruin something irreplaceable with a bonehead move like that?

Whoa, bronze doesn't warp like that though. Pretty sure that was a modern fake.

Ha! You're probably right, but my brain just sees "warped metal" and thinks "sci-fi movie prop." I once bought a "vintage" brass lamp at a flea market, got it home, and it was literally just spray-painted plastic that started peeling the first time I dusted it. My roommate still brings up the "ancient artifact" that turned out to be from a 1990s craft store. So yeah, I'm personally qualified to spot a fake, just not in the way that helps anyone.
