I spent $300 on that 'treasure hunting' metal detector from the infomercial

After 6 weekends digging up nothing but bottle caps and rusty nails in my backyard near Tulsa, I realized I got scammed by those fake YouTube videos showing people finding gold coins. Has anyone else here actually gotten a decent find from a budget detector or are they all junk?

That whole "finding gold coins on the first try" thing in those videos is such a setup, it drives me nuts. You could try taking that detector to a local park or an old fairground where there's more foot traffic, way better odds of finding something cool than a random backyard in Tulsa.

Yeah that "first try" gold coin thing is so fake, lol. Honestly you'd have better luck hitting up a crowded beach after a holiday weekend, people lose all kinds of stuff there.
