I keep seeing people call that new Roman site in York a 'fort' when it's clearly a supply depot
The layout matches other depots along the road to Hadrian's Wall, not the standard fort design. I spent a weekend comparing the excavation maps with known military sites. The storage pits and lack of a proper principia building are the big clues. Has anyone else looked at the site plans and noticed this?

Calling it a fort is a real stretch, like calling my shed a palace.

Honestly that "shed a palace" thing reminds me of my buddy's "treehouse". He nailed some old pallets between three pines and called it a fort. One good rain and the whole thing slid down the trunk, left his action figures hanging in the branches. We still give him grief about his fortress that moved.

Oh man, you're totally right about the supply depot thing! I was just reading about the layout and it's missing all the key fort buildings, like the headquarters. All those storage areas line up perfectly with other spots along the supply route. It's cool you actually compared the maps, that makes a huge difference.
