I finally checked out the updated exhibit on that coastal shell mound find
They had the actual tools and midden samples laid out with clear signs explaining the dating. It reminded me of when local finds like this would just get a small newspaper blurb and that was it. Now you can scan a code and see 3D models of the layers they dug through. Seeing the wear patterns on a bone awl up close gave me a real sense of the daily work back then.

Remember that tiny display case at the old maritime museum? My friend got totally stuck there once, just staring at a single fishhook for like ten minutes. He said actually seeing the groove from the line made it feel less like a thing in a box and more like someone's lost gear, which kinda blew his mind. Did the new setup give you that same weird time-travel feeling?

Disagree with the_ryan... walking through the new exhibit, I got that same time-travel vibe. Like, there's this old compass with scratches all over it... you can almost see someone's hands on it. Or the faded map in the corner... it's got coffee stains and everything. Makes you wonder about the trips it planned... who was holding it, what they were thinking. So yeah, for me it's not just polished junk... it's full of those little human touches.

Laughing at your friend's fishhook obsession, @xena_fox39... but the new setup is too polished for any time-travel feels. Just looks like a bunch of old junk to me.
