Had to choose between a drone and old maps for my site survey

Last spring I budgeted $800 for new gear and picked a cheap drone over a set of 1930s aerial photos of the dig site near Santa Fe. The drone gave me great shots but the old maps would've shown the buried irrigation lines we kept hitting, so now I tell everyone to grab the archival stuff first. Anyone else regret skipping historical records for fancy tech?

Totally get this. Used to think new tech was always the smarter buy, but seeing how those old maps could've saved you all that digging time really flips it.
