Vent: Hidden wire root took 5 hours to find

I was removing this big maple stump and kept hitting something solid. Thought it was a rock but nope, someone buried old telephone wire right through the root system years ago. Took me from 8am to 1pm just to cut through it all and clear the stump. Has anyone else run into random buried cables messing up a job like that?

Blame the guy who buried it. 5 hours is nothing compared to what happens when you actually cut a live line. That old wire was dead, probably abandoned for decades. He should've been happy it wasn't a gas line or fiber optic. Complaining about digging through some old copper is a waste of breath. Spend the time learning to use a cable locator instead.

My buddy hit a buried cable line last spring, spent 6 hours rerouting his stump work. The old stuff is always a pain because nobody maps where they drop it. Telephone wire through roots is just mean...
