The before and after on this oak after last week's storm

Had a client call me about a split limb, drove out and the tree looked fine from the street, then I got around back and half the canopy was just gone, clean sheared off like someone took a knife to it. Whole thing took maybe 4 hours to clean up, but that morning picture versus the afternoon picture is wild. Anyone else get those jobs where the damage is way worse than the phone call suggests?

Betting that phone call said "small branch down, nothing urgent" and then you show up to what looks like a bomb went off in the backyard. That's always the way though, clients downplay it because they don't want to seem dramatic, but the pictures never do the real damage justice either. Take it from me, a tree that looks fine from the street is usually hiding something way worse around the side, especially after a storm with straight line winds. You probably saved that oak from splitting all the way down the trunk, so four hours is honestly a lucky break. Hope you charged for the surprise factor, cause that's worth extra in my book.
