Shoutout to the guy who suggested a different way to cut a heavy limb
I was taking down a big maple limb over a shed in my client's yard, and instead of my usual three-cut method, I tried a single undercut with a notch on top first. The limb twisted and pinched my bar so hard I had to get a second saw to free it. Has anyone else had a plan backfire because you changed up a basic cut?

That "fancy plunge cut" video problem is real. It's like they never show the grain tension in the wood they're using. A method that works on their perfect demo log can be a disaster on a twisted backyard tree.

My cousin's a logger and he does that top notch first cut all the time. Seems like the wood just had some weird twist in it that day.

Oh man, that sounds way too familiar. I tried a fancy plunge cut on a pine branch last fall because some video made it look easy. Ended up with a huge barber chair that nearly took out a fence. Why do we even watch those videos?
