Old way was rope and saddle, now I climb spikes for removal only

I used to spike every tree I climbed, even for pruning. About 5 years ago a client called me out for damaging their oak, and I realized I was being lazy. Now I only use spikes for removals - anyone else make that switch or still climb with spikes for everything?

Honestly, did the client show you the spike damage firsthand?

Three times now I've had clients just send screenshots instead of showing the actual physical damage, and it always ends up being way worse than they described. @pat_schmidt60 is right that people hold back until things get really serious. It's rough when you're trying to help but getting half the story from the start.

Yeah people rarely show you the real damage until it's too late.
