Half the crew under 30 never saw a hand saw get sharpened

Last month I was on a job in Asheville clearing storm damage and one of the younger guys asked why I kept a flat file in my truck. He'd never watched anyone hand sharpen a crosscut saw. I showed him on a 26 inch bow saw that was pulling hard, took maybe 15 minutes to get it cutting true again. The whole crew stopped to watch. Made me think about how many basic field skills are just gone now that everyone runs battery saws and skid steers. Has anyone else noticed a real gap between the older and younger guys on hand tool maintenance?

I heard a podcast say repair skills are becoming a lost art, and this proves it.
