Finally got a clean removal on that huge, leaning maple in Oak Park

Three years ago, I started my own gig after a decade working for a bigger company. Last week, I had a job for a huge silver maple that was leaning hard over a garage in Oak Park. The client was really nervous, but we rigged it down piece by piece over two days without a single scratch on the structure. It's the first time I've felt completely confident calling every shot on a tree that tricky. Anyone have a go-to rigging knot for a situation like that, where you need a lot of control on the descent?

Yeah, that "feel the descent" thing from an old article really stuck with me.

Man, that feeling is the BEST. Had a similar monster pine over a deck last month, same slow piece-by-piece vibe. For control, I'm a total sucker for a running bowline with a porty wrap, lets you really FEEL the descent.

Watched my buddy's rope snap mid-descent once.
