Swapped my 55 gallon water drums for rain barrels after a talk with a guy in Tucson
For a couple of years I kept four 55 gallon drums in the garage and treated them like fine wine, just sitting there going stale. Then a prepper at a meetup in Tucson named Ray asked me one simple question: what's my refill plan if the tap dies for good? That got me building two rain barrels off my gutters instead, and now I actually cycle the water every few months instead of hoarding it. Anyone here run rain barrels in a dry climate, and do you bother with a first flush diverter or just let the roof gunk settle?
