My backup generator failed after only 6 test runs

Bought a dual fuel generator 8 months ago. Ran it once a month like they say, then when the power flickered last night it wouldn't start. Fuel stabilizer didn't help. Anyone had one of these things actually work when you needed it?

Wait, is it really that big of a deal? A power flicker isn't the same as a full outage, so maybe the generator just needs a quick carb clean or a new spark plug. Six test runs in 8 months sounds like you might have some moisture or gummed up fuel in there, not a total failure. Have you tried draining the carburetor and checking the fuel lines before calling it a dud?
