I was wrong about freeze dried eggs being a waste of money

Stocked up on Mountain House eggs 6 months ago thinking they'd taste like cardboard but tried them last week after a power outage and they actually scrambled up fine. Used them in a breakfast burrito with my stored tortillas and hot sauce and couldn't tell the difference from fresh. What food item did you think was garbage prep but turned out to be worth the shelf space?

Dude I had a Mountain House lasagna one time on a camping trip and it was so good I actually checked the bag to see if it was real lasagna. The noodles were actually kinda al dente still, not mushy like you would expect. My buddy Dave brought some knockoff brand and that one was definitely rubber city though, so I think there's a big gap between the good freeze dried stuff and the cheap ones. I'm still not convinced it's better than fresh but honestly for something that sits in a bag for 5 years it's way better than it has any right to be lol.
