Hot take: a Costco pallet of rice and beans weighs more than my truck wants to know
Went to load up on the 50 lb bags at the Costco in Sparks, and the guy at the dock laughed and asked if I was feeding a platoon. Told him no, just a family of four plus the neighbor who thinks the grid is a suggestion. He said the average person eats about 150 lbs of dry goods in a year, so a 4 person house needs roughly 600 lbs just for 12 months. I did the math in the parking lot and my little half ton was squatted like a dog doing its business. Had to make two trips. Now I keep a hand truck in the bed at all times. Anyone else figure out their actual yearly food weight or am I the only one who got humbled by dry rice?
