Vent: That week I replaced 3 transformers on the same Honeywell Vista panel

Last month I had a stretch where every Vista 20p I touched had a blown transformer. First one was in a house built in the 70s with old wiring, second was in a retail space with voltage spikes, third was a new install I did myself. I swear the common link was that all three were in the same zip code over by the industrial park. Anyone else ever get a run of bad luck with transformers and end up questioning your own work?

And I swear I read something about this exact thing recently, some old alarm tech's blog where he talked about how Vista panels are super sensitive to power fluctuations (go figure) because of the way their transformer rectifier circuit is designed. He said that industrial parks with heavy machinery can cause those weird micro-surges that slowly cook a transformer over a few weeks instead of killing it instantly, which explains the delayed failure. Makes you wonder if those three panels were just the unlucky ones sitting on the edge of a bad power grid, or if there's some other environmental factor nobody talks about.

You have my full sympathy, that is a brutal streak to go through. I had a similar run last year where I replaced the same transformer on three different panels in a single week and started second-guessing every wire nut I touched. Sometimes the universe just decides to test your patience, especially near those industrial parks with all the dirty power.

Universe just decides to test your patience" - that hits hard. Seems like life has these weird clusters where everything goes wrong at once. Not just electrical stuff either. My car, my AC, and my phone all crapped out in the same week once. Like the universe runs on a nasty schedule.
