Vent: I ran a new wireless sensor line through a metal conduit and the range dropped to nothing
Always heard metal blocks signal, but figured a short 8-foot run for a door contact in a Denver office wouldn't matter... it killed the signal completely. Anyone have a good rule of thumb for when you absolutely can't use metal conduit with wireless gear?

Feel for you, I've been there myself and it's frustrating how even a short metal run can kill the signal. @bettys51 is right, metal conduit is basically a dead zone for wireless everything no matter the distance. My rule of thumb now is if I'm pulling any wireless wire, I use plastic conduit or just clip it open to the studs.

What's your go-to fix now? I used to think a short run was fine, but that exact scenario changed my mind.

Heard a tech say any metal conduit is a no-go for wireless. You need plastic or just run it open.
