I always ran wires straight to the panel until a job in Akron changed my mind

I was doing a retrofit in a 1920s house in Akron last month and the basement was just a crawl space. I kept snagging my wires on old joists and stuff, took me like 45 minutes just to run one zone. My buddy who I was working with said hey why don't you use those little plastic wire bridges they make for running cables along the floor joists. I literally laughed at him at first because I thought those were just for home theater guys. But he insisted and after I tried them I cut my run time by half easy. The trick is you screw them into the side of the joist and the wires snap in and stay out of the way. No more fighting with staples or zip ties in tight spots. Has anyone else found a weird tool like that that totally changed how you do a specific part of the job?

Wait, you were running wires for 45 minutes for ONE zone in a crawl space? That's insane. I would have given up and just run conduit after like 10 minutes of that.

Those little plastic bridge clips are actually called "Wire Wraps" or "Cable Hangers" if you ever need to find them again at the store (not "wire bridges" even though that makes sense). They're a lifesaver in tight spots too, I seriously underestimated them until about a year ago.

Did your buddy buy you a beer after that or what? My friend swears by those little plastic clips for low voltage stuff now too.
