Hit 200 panel installs last week and it got me thinking

I counted back through my job logs and realized I've put in exactly 203 alarm panels since I started on my own 4 years ago. What surprised me is that nearly 40 of those were service upgrades for people who had DIY systems they couldn't figure out. Have any of you noticed a shift in how many homeowners are ditching the Ring stuff and calling us?

That "couldn't figure it out" part is exactly what I'm seeing too. I pulled a Ring system out last month because the homeowner had it in chime mode and couldn't get the app to arm it properly. They paid me $150 to swap in a basic DSC setup and they were thrilled. The big thing I tell folks is check your transformer first if they call about a DIY system acting up. Half the time they used the wrong one or skipped it entirely and the panel just browns out at 3am.

Wait, they paid you $150 to swap out a Ring for a basic DSC just because they couldn't figure out the app? That's wild. I've seen people drop serious cash on pro installs for systems they could've fixed with a five minute YouTube video.
