Had a guy in Tampa tell me my panel placement was all wrong
I was finishing up a residential install in Tampa last Tuesday when the homeowner walks in and says I put the panel in the closet. He insisted it should be by the front door near the thermostat because that's where he 'feels safe.' I tried to explain code issues and wireless range but he wouldn't budge. Ended up moving it 40 feet across the house and now the keypad drops signal every time the fridge kicks on. Anyone else have customers who think they know better than you on placement?

...and there it is, the fridge kicking on causing a drop. I can't believe that guy actually made you move it to where he "feels safe." In my experience, homeowners forget that security panels aren't decorative wall art. They're there to work, not to make them feel cozy. Your jam is real though, I've had a client refuse to let me put a motion sensor in their hallway because they thought it would "watch them sleep." At some point you just have to do what they want and let them deal with the consequences, even if it means a keypad that goes dark every time the compressor cycles.

Bet he'd feel safe in a closet too, until the alarm won't arm.

Honestly I used to side with the homeowner on stuff like this but y'all changed my mind.
