Got a call for a false alarm at a big house in Tempe, turned out to be a spider web.
The homeowner was mad because the police came twice in a week. Every sensor in the sunroom kept tripping. I checked the wiring, the alignment, everything. After an hour, I saw a huge web right across the PIR lens inside the housing. Cleared it out with compressed air and it's been quiet for a month now. Anyone have a good spray or trick to keep bugs out of outdoor sensors?

A spider web set off the alarm twice in one week? That's actually kind of impressive. Those must have been some serious spiders building in there. I'd be checking that sunroom for bigger pests.

Actually, spider webs don't set off motion sensors directly. It's usually the spider itself moving across the beam that trips it. So you're right about needing to check for pests, but the spider is the culprit, not its web.

Right, the spider MOVING is what does it. I had one set off my garage sensor every night for a week, drove me nuts until I found the little guy.
