Door sensor fell off mid-install yesterday

I was up on a ladder at a house in Oak Park. Stuck a door sensor on with 3M tape like always. Five minutes later it just dropped and hit the tile floor. Sensor cracked. Homeowner saw the whole thing. Now I only use screws for door contacts. Anyone else ditch the tape for good?

3M tape is just not reliable for door sensors, no matter what people say. I switched to screws after the same thing happened to me. Never going back.

Right on, screws are the ONLY way to go for a door sensor that's gonna last. That tape stuff just can't handle the temperature swings and the door slamming over time. A couple of small screws and some anchors in the door frame and you're set for years, no drama.
