The lead mechanic told me my torque readings were 'optimistic'
Last month in Dayton, I was doing a landing gear retract test on a 737 and the senior guy just stared at my sheet. Said I was rounding up too much on the torque values, like calling 42.3 foot-pounds 43. He pulled out his own wrench and showed me how the needle settled right on 42, not a hair past. I learned that I was rushing the final pull and not letting the handle level out fully. Now I take an extra 3 seconds per fitting to let the click set in and I write down the exact number, not the nearest whole. Has anyone else been called out for small stuff like that and actually changed their process?

I got roasted by my lead for writing 27.6 as 28 once, and he made me redo every single bolt on that panel just to prove his point.

You ever try rounding up to the nearest half instead of the whole number? That's what I did when my supervisor busted my chops over a torque spec that was 42.3 ft-lbs... I started writing 42.5 on the sheet and never got another complaint. Might save you some hassle on the next panel, @milestaylor. It's a small change but it kept the lead off my back.

42.3 is definitely 42, not 43 bro-I used to round up too but that changed my mind.
