Serious question, a pilot friend said we mechanics are too focused on the book and not the plane.
We were having a beer after a long day on a King Air 350, and he said, 'You guys follow the manual so close you forget to listen to what the metal is telling you.' It hit different because he wasn't wrong, I've seen guys replace a perfectly good part just because the manual said to check it. Where do you draw the line between following procedures and using your own gut feel?
