Took 6 tries to get frozen fries crispy in my air fryer, turns out it was my dumb rookie mistake
I kept loading them in like a mountain. Cooked at 400 for 15 mins. Middle was soggy, edges burned. Then I read the basket manual again. You need one single layer, no overlap. Shake halfway. 12 minutes tops. Now they come out like diner fries. Wish I'd figured that out back in February. Anyone else fight with frozen stuff for way too long before realizing the basket was packed wrong?

Single layer is the golden rule for basically everything in the air fryer, not just fries. Took me months to learn that with chicken wings too. You cram them in, they steam instead of crisp, and you blame the machine or the recipe. Then one day you finally spread them out and it's like a whole different appliance. It's the same thing with a grill or a pan, nobody wants to hear that space matters more than time. Everybody's in a hurry to pile stuff on, but the batch cooks faster when you split it into two rounds anyway. People spend all this money on gadgets and then refuse to read the one page of directions that comes with it.

Why do we all gotta learn this the hard way with a soggy batch first? Overlapping stuff is basically throwing money in the trash. I did the same with onion rings, top ones fine, bottom ones a sad mess. Read the dang manual before you blame your machine. It always comes back to single layer and patience.
