Serious question, did anyone else's chicken wings come out rubbery at first?
I got an air fryer about 3 weeks ago and my first batch of wings was a disaster. They looked golden on the outside but the skin was chewy and weird, not crispy at all. My buddy from work who cooks all the time told me I wasn't drying the wings enough before seasoning. He said pat them dry with paper towels and leave them in the fridge uncovered for an hour. I tried that last Sunday and it made a huge difference. The skin got super crispy and the inside stayed juicy. I also started flipping them halfway through at 380 degrees instead of 400. Has anyone else had that rubbery skin problem and fixed it with drying them out?

My first batch was so rubbery I could've bounced them off the wall (and I kinda wanted to, ngl). Tried the fridge drying trick too and it saved my air fryer from becoming a very expensive paperweight.

Yeah but how long did you leave them in the fridge? I tried that trick once and just forgot about them for three days. Ended up with beef jerky sticks instead of jerky jerky. Still ate em though, just needed a lot of chewing. That drying time window is real narrow.
