Rant: My neighbor swore the basket didn't need preheating
My neighbor Dave told me to skip preheating the air fryer basket for frozen fries. I tried it last night on a batch of crinkle cuts from Costco and they came out soggy and uneven after 12 minutes. He said 'just toss em in cold' but now I'm stuck with limp fries and a wasted dinner. Anyone else have a bad experience skipping the preheat step?
Dave told me the exact same thing about his air fryer and honestly Dave's advice has been wrong about everything since he told me putting dish soap in the Keurig would clean it. I preheat my basket for a full 5 minutes every single time and if I skip it the fries come out looking like they went swimming in a puddle of grease. Costco crinkle cuts are my go too and they need that hot basket to crisp up the outside before the inside gets mushy. Your neighbor is probably the type of guy who puts ice cubes in his chili and calls it soup.
