My mom's 1980s microwave trick finally made sense in the air fryer

Last month my mom visited and watched me flip chicken wings at the 8 minute mark. She laughed and said I reminded her of how she used to rotate the turntable plate by hand because their old microwave in Akron had a dead motor. It hit me that we both spent years babysitting hot food in a box, just different boxes now. She asked if I ever just let it sit and I said no, then she showed me her trick of shaking the basket twice instead of flipping each piece. Has anyone else had an older relative turn your air fryer routine into a 20 minute story about appliances from the 80s?

Honestly, is shaking a basket twice really that deep? It's like, the same amount of effort, you just skip the tongs. Feels like she turned a 30 second cooking tip into a whole family history lesson for zero reason.
