My frozen fries turned into a smoky mess at 400 degrees
I was making a quick snack in my kitchen when the air fryer started smoking like crazy. I opened it and found the fries were burnt black on the bottom but still frozen in the middle. I guess I overloaded the basket and the hot air couldn't move around right. Has anyone else had this happen with frozen foods?

Oh man, the shaking thing is a lifesaver lol. I did the exact same thing with my tots last week - threw them in at 400 without a second thought and ended up with that nasty burnt smell filling up my whole apartment. The bottom layer was completely black but the top ones were still cold and limp. Shaking them halfway through changed everything for me too. Now I just set a timer on my phone for like 8 minutes, give it a good shake, and then let them finish up. They come out way more even and actually crispy all the way through instead of that awful mix of frozen and burnt. Definitely feels like one of those obvious life hacks you wish you knew sooner lol.

Shaking the basket halfway through fixed mine.

Wait, is that the trick? @grantadams I had the same thing with my fries last week. They were all stuck together and soggy in the middle. Gave the basket a good shake like you said, and bam, they finished perfect and crispy. Honestly felt like a total kitchen hack. I'm doing that every single time now.
