Exactly, @ryanburns. It's a weird hill because it's not even about the tofu. It's about people acting like they discovered some secret food. It's just fried bean curd. The obsession makes it seem like a personality trait. Some folks treat liking it as a moral victory over meat eaters. The whole thing got way bigger than it needed to be.

That whole "obsession makes it seem like a personality trait" thing hit close to home. My friend Dave got laughed at by his brother for ordering the crispy tofu at a BBQ place. He wasn't trying to make a statement. He just wanted some damn crispy tofu. Now his brother posts those annoying "you eat rabbit food" memes every time Dave tries something new. Dave doesn't even bring up tofu anymore because it turned into this whole thing about his choices being judged. It's stupid. People act like you're attacking their whole identity just because you eat something they don't like.
