Honestly the spray can thing is a fire risk too. I saw a video where the oil pooled under the basket and caught flame.

Yeah, that pooling oil is no joke. I read a safety report from a fire department that said most kitchen fires start exactly like that, with grease building up in places you don't clean. They mentioned one case where someone was reheating fries, the old oil dripped down onto the burner coil, and it flashed over in seconds. Makes you want to just use the oven instead.

My old basket was so bad I had to soak it in hot soapy water for an hour. Now I just use a paper towel with a tiny bit of oil, way less mess.
