Am I the only one who thinks air fryer wings aren't actually better than baked?

I overheard my neighbor bragging that his air fryer wings were better than my baked ones after a cookout last Saturday. He said they were crunchier and juicier, but I tried one and it was dry on the inside with that weird forced-hot-air taste. Has anyone else found air fryers just make things dry faster than a regular oven?

My buddy tried an air fryer once and said his chicken came out tasting like a hairdryer.

Lol that's wild. My aunt actually bought one of those off a TikTok ad and tried to make frozen fries in it. She left them in for like 45 minutes cause she thought it was just a tiny oven or something. They came out like charcoal briquettes and the whole house smelled like a burnt hair salon for two days. I still tease her about it every time she brings up cooking gadgets. Honestly though I think air fryers are just mini convection ovens with a fancy name. Your buddy probably just didn't use enough oil or seasoning.
