Air fryer wings ruined restaurant wings for me
I used to swear by deep frying chicken wings at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Got an air fryer last Christmas and tried wings at 375 for 20 minutes with a flip halfway. They came out just as crispy with way less grease and none of that hot oil splatter mess. Has anyone else found that air fryer wings are actually better than the real fried version?

...and I'm just sitting here wondering why people act like an air fryer is some kind of miracle invention. It's basically a tiny convection oven, right? I mean, I've had air fryer wings that were fine, but better than a properly deep fried wing? Come on. You're telling me that crispy skin with that little bit of oil flavor isn't the whole point of eating wings? Don't get me wrong, I get not wanting to deal with a pot of hot oil on the stove, but let's not pretend air fryer wings are some kind of upgrade. It's a trade-off at best, and personally I'll take the mess if it means real fried chicken every time.

Kenji Lopez-Alt did a whole serious eats test on this and basically agreed with you, Adam.
