Tried to train a simple AI to sort my work photos. It took me a whole weekend to figure out it kept mixing up 'before' and 'after' shots.

Read an article about this exact problem. They said the AI just looks for patterns in brightness or clutter, not the actual concept of progress. So if your "after" shots are cleaner and brighter, but some "before" shots happen to be in good light, the whole system gets confused. Makes you wonder how it even sees the world, right?

Exactly, it's like the AI has a checklist of surface level stuff. If a messy room has a sunny window, it might score higher than a tidy room at dusk. That means a "good" before photo could ruin your whole progress log. The system isn't seeing a cleaned desk, it's just counting bright pixels.
