TIL the AI grammar checker was quietly rewriting my own notes

I noticed my meeting summaries sounded too polished, like a robot wrote them. Turns out my note app had AI that auto-corrected my typos but also changed my wording to 'more professional' phrasing. After 3 weeks I couldn't tell what I actually said in standups. I turned off the rewrite feature and kept only the spellcheck. Has anyone else caught their AI tool changing meaning instead of just fixing errors?

Like, no buddy, me and Devin were just hanging out and missed the sprint by three days. Honestly it's scary how sneaky that rewrite feature is, it makes you sound like a corporate robot but you don't notice until you try to recall a meeting and all you hear is some LinkedIn post. Good call turning it off, I did the same thing after my notes started calling every problem an "opportunity for growth." Tbh if I wanted to sound like my boss's boss I'd just let ChatGPT write my diary too.

The "opportunity for growth" thing is what got me. I asked my AI to summarize a client complaint and it turned "we were late and they're pissed" into "we are leveraging this feedback to enhance our service delivery." I had to re-read it three times to figure out what actually happened. Did you ever catch it changing the tone of something that actually mattered, like an email to a client, before you switched it off? Because that's the part that scares me, it's not just notes, it's real communication.
