My cousin in Phoenix made me question if AI art is really art
We were looking at some generated landscapes and she said it just feels like typing with extra steps. That hit me because Ive been defending these tools for months. She pointed out that the real skill is knowing what to ask for, not making the thing itself. Is the prompt the art or is the machine doing all the heavy lifting? Anyone else have a family member call them out like that and make you rethink your whole setup?
Did your cousin actually change your mind or just make you stop and think for a bit? I used to brush off that same argument until I tried making something myself and realized I spent an hour just rewording my prompt to get one decent image. That part takes some skill, sure, but the machine still does the actual drawing, and I can't pretend that's the same as someone who spent years learning to paint. So yeah, I've moved off my old take that it's all equal.
