Just wasted $90 on an AI writing tool that couldn't handle basic research

I paid $90 for a 3 month subscription to this AI writing assistant that promised to pull in real time data from the web. Figured it would help with my blog posts about local restaurants in Austin. But the thing kept making up fake menu items and closing times that were completely wrong. I had to double check everything anyway and ended up just doing the research myself. Has anyone found an AI tool that actually gets local business info right?

oh I kinda disagree here honestly. I mean yeah those tools are 100% garbage at anything specific like local business hours or menu items, thats not what theyre built for. theyre great for like brainstorming ideas or writing a rough draft that you then fix up yourself. expecting it to fact check itself is just asking for trouble, you know?

The real issue nobody talks about is how using these tools actually makes your own thinking weaker over time. When you use ChatGPT to brainstorm for you, you skip the hard part where your brain makes those connections on its own. Its like using training wheels forever and then wondering why you cant balance a bike. Ive noticed people in my field who lean on these tools for drafts end up producing worse work than before because they never learn the editing and problem solving skills. The tool does the fun creative part and leaves you with the boring cleanup. You end up outsourcing the actual thinking and just becoming a proofreader for a robot.
