Just realized my take on AI art was totally wrong after a talk with my cousin
He's a painter in Miami. We were talking about the new image generators. I said they were just tools, like a fancy brush. He said no, it's more like a factory. He told me 'It doesn't learn to see, it learns to copy patterns from a million pictures it doesn't understand.' That hit different. Made me look at the stuff I was making. It felt empty. Like I was just typing, not creating. Anyone else have a moment that made them question the whole 'AI as a creative partner' idea?

Read a thing that called it "statistical averaging." Ever since, I can't unsee the generic look in a lot of it.

Funny how it feels like creation until you realize you're just the middleman.

That middleman still has to pick which tools to use and what to ask for though. I see what you mean @finleyf88 but someone's taste is guiding the whole process, lol.
