Decided between Midjourney and DALL-E for game concept art

I'm working on a small indie game project and needed to generate some fantasy landscape ideas. Tried Midjourney first for a month at $30 but the style felt too polished and samey. Switched to DALL-E through ChatGPT Plus and got way more variety in the outputs for my dungeon designs. Has anyone else found one tool works better for game assets than the other?

I heard Midjourney's new v6 model has way better texture detail for game assets now.

Yeah the detail bump is real, but there's a catch. You have to run a lot of test renders to get the right material look - it's not just plug and play. The new model can oversharpen some surfaces if you don't tweak your prompt. Best tip I can give: drop your style weight way down, like 50 or less, and add texture keywords like "rough concrete" or "worn metal" to keep it natural. Works way better for actual game use where you need normal maps to match.
