Watched an AI hiring tool reject my resume for a typo from 2018

I applied for a warehouse supervisor gig and got auto rejected within 2 minutes. The rejection email said my resume had a typo from three years ago that I missed. Has anyone else had an algorithm kill a job chance over something a human would never care about?

That happened to me too with a retail management job, they rejected me over a missing comma from 2016. Ridiculous how much power these dumb algorithms have now.

The algorithm thing is getting out of hand honestly... @theasmith they're basically making decisions based on garbage data and random typos from years ago. It's like having a robot HR person that can't see the big picture at all. Companies are letting software filter out real people for tiny mistakes that don't even matter to the actual job. Meanwhile the algorithms miss obvious red flags because they're just scanning for keywords and perfect formatting. It's a broken system but nobody wants to fix it because it saves them money on actual human recruiters.

Yeah I ended up having to totally change how I write my resume because of this. I started using a bunch of keyword stuffing and formatting tricks to get past the bots. Basically I took the job description and copied their exact phrases and dropped them into my resume in a natural way. Also I ran my resume through a free ATS scanner online to see what it was flagging. The dumb part is I had to take out all the things that make a resume actually good like personal achievements and big picture stuff. But it worked - I got interviews after that. The whole thing is a game now more than a real reflection of who you are. Did you try running yours through one of those scanners yet?
