Vent: I used to think AI job loss was just a tech problem until my friend in Toledo lost his factory job to a robot last month.

He told me, 'They called it an upgrade, but it just feels like they threw us away,' and that made me realize we need to talk about the human cost, not just the efficiency gains, so has anyone else seen this happen close to home?

Watched my own job get "optimized" last year, so yeah, that human cost hits hard.

That "optimized" word is just corporate code for cutting people, and you see it everywhere now.

Yeah, @mark_thomas you're right about that. My buddy worked at a packing plant near Dayton, did the same thing for twelve years, then one day they brought in these robotic arms and half the line was gone. He said they didn't even get a warning, just a meeting and a severance check.
