Was he trying to be funny? That's a messed up thing to say, even as a joke.

You ever say something and immediately wish you could take it back? I've done that so many times, usually when I'm trying to be funny and it just lands flat. Classic me, making a joke at the wrong time about the wrong thing. At least when I mess up, I don't have a whole audience watching me fail... just my cats judging me silently.
