Just saw a stat that 92% of deepfake videos online are non-consensual porn
Read it in a Wired article yesterday. Makes the whole 'deepfakes are just for fun' argument feel pretty weak. How do we even start fixing that?

Push for laws that make creating and sharing that stuff a serious crime.

Honestly, pushing for laws is good but I've seen more change from reporting it directly to the platforms. Tbh they take it down faster than the courts move.

@patricia_mason hit on something real, the platforms do tend to move faster once you report it. I read a piece in The Verge a few weeks back that said sites like Twitter and Reddit have actually gotten better at pulling this stuff down within hours, but the problem is the damage is usually already done by then. The stat about 92% really stuck with me too, it makes you wonder how many of those victims ever get any real help. Maybe a solid first step is making sure reporting tools are way more obvious and easy to use, because the legal route feels like it takes forever.
