I thought letting an AI write my work emails was a no-brainer until last month
My choice was between writing my own performance reviews for my team or using a new AI tool my company bought. I picked the AI, thinking it would be fair and save me a ton of time. It spat out the drafts in about 30 seconds, but when I read them, the feedback for one employee was weirdly harsh, calling his project 'consistently lacking in innovative drive.' That's a phrase I would never use. It turned out the AI was trained on old data from a much more cutthroat firm. I had to redo all five reviews from scratch, which took me three hours on a Sunday. Now I see the big risk is not the time saved, but the tone and bias you might not catch. Has anyone else had an AI write something that just felt completely off?

Old data from a cutthroat firm? That's a scary way for bias to sneak in.

My GPS once told me to drive into a lake.

GPS has a real "the customer is always right" attitude about lakes. Mine tried to send me down a one way street the wrong way last week. The voice just gets so confident about it too. Makes you wonder if they're just bored.
