I figured the self-checkout cameras calling out items were fake until one snitched on my bananas at Kroger
For about 6 months I figured those AI cameras at the self-checkout were just scare tactics and nobody was actually watching. Last Tuesday at the Kroger on Main in Fort Wayne I scanned 2 pounds of bananas but typed in the code for the cheap ones, and a voice came over the speaker saying "please rescan your item." I stood there frozen while the screen showed a little box around my bananas with a red X. The cashier walked over and said the system catches that stuff now, it flags the weight and the shape. I fixed it and paid the extra 80 cents, but now I want to know if anybody else has gotten caught by these things and did it actually change how you shop?
